Privacy Policy
Plain English, because you have enough to read right now. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and how to make us stop.
Last updated: August 29, 2026
The short version
We collect your email address when you ask us to send you something. We use analytics to see which pages help people. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone, ever. You can leave at any time and we will delete what we hold if you ask.
Caregiving is a vulnerable season. We treat your information the way we would want ours treated in the same situation.
Who we are
Your Parents Keeper is operated by Nicole Hilgenkamp in Blair, Nebraska. For a postal mailing address, write to support@yourparentskeeper.com and we will provide one. Questions about privacy go to support@yourparentskeeper.com and get a reply within one business day.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Email address and name when you subscribe to the newsletter, request the checklist, register for a webinar, or apply for coaching.
- What you tell us in an email, a coaching application, or a community post. If you describe your parent's situation, that is your choice and we treat it as confidential.
- Payment information for paid memberships. Payments are processed by Substack and Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically
- Pages visited, time on page, referring site, approximate location by city, browser and device type, all through Google Analytics 4 delivered by Google Tag Manager.
- Whether you clicked a call to action, opened an FAQ, or scrolled a page. We use this to find out which explanations are working and which are failing people.
We do not collect health information about you or your parent through this website, and you should not send us medical records by email.
Why we collect it
- To send you the thing you asked for, such as the checklist or a webinar link.
- To send one useful email a week, which you can stop at any time.
- To deliver and support paid memberships and coaching.
- To understand which pages and guides actually help, so we write more of what works.
- To meet legal and tax obligations.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not run retargeting ads that follow you around the internet.
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your information. We share it only with the vendors that make the service work:
- Substack for the newsletter, the community, and membership billing.
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager for site measurement.
- Calendly for scheduling coaching calls.
- Stripe for payment processing, through Substack.
- Zoom for live sessions and webinars.
Each of these has its own privacy policy. We will also disclose information if the law requires it, which has not happened and we hope never will.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses cookies set by Google Analytics to tell repeat visits from new ones, and cookies set by embedded Substack, Calendly, and Zoom content when you use those features. There are no advertising cookies on this site.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.
We honor Global Privacy Control and browser Do Not Track signals where our tools support them.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your information entirely.
- Send you a copy of your information.
- Stop emailing you, which the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email also does instantly.
Email support@yourparentskeeper.com with your request. We confirm within one business day and complete it within 30 days. We do not charge for this and we do not ask why.
California residents have these rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, so there is nothing for you to opt out of. Residents of the EU and UK have these rights under the GDPR. Our lawful bases are your consent for marketing email, and legitimate interest for basic site analytics.
How long we keep it
Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Unsubscribed addresses are kept in a suppression list only so we do not accidentally email you again. Customer and payment records are kept as long as tax law requires, currently seven years. Analytics data expires on Google's standard retention schedule.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Vendor accounts use strong unique passwords and two factor authentication. That said, no system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if a breach ever affects your information.
Children
This site is for adults caring for aging parents. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
What this site is not
Your Parents Keeper provides education and coaching, not medical, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a covered entity under HIPAA. Nothing you send us here is protected health information under that law. Please do not email medical records or your parent's Social Security number. If you need to share sensitive documents for coaching, ask us and we will set up a secure method.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything that matters, we update the date at the top and say so in the newsletter. We will not quietly change what we do with your information.
